Volatile corrosion inhibitors (VCI) or vapor phase corrosion inhibitors can be provided inside a package in a pouch or can be incorporated in a saturated overwrap of special paper. Many of these are organic salts that condense on the metal to resist corrosion.
VCI papers are used to protect components that require high shelf life and protection against corrosion. These have a high VCI chemicals carrying capacity and are useful in protecting components for longer periods and also provide better abrasion resistance compared to thin film plastics. Goods wrapped in or protected by RUST-X VCI paper are not affected by corrosion.
They are designed to address the many challenges encountered in the long term protection of steel, cast iron, chrome, copper, brass and zinc, and they are available in a wide range of options. It is also possible to completely avoid the use of protective oils and liquids. Simply remove the paper and the previously protected part can be used immediately!
